3.1. Create/Edit Conversion Profiles

The export settings in Porter for Outlook are managed by creating/editing one or more Conversion Profiles. Click Settings in order to display the list of available conversion profiles:



On the Conversion Profiles pop-up, click New in order to add a new Conversion Profile, or select an existing profile and click Edit in order to modify it. When finished, click OK on all windows in order to save the changes.

The below image shows the various options that can be set for each conversion profile:



Here is a description of each option:
  • Enabled. Defines whether the Conversion Profile will appear on the ribbon or not. 
  • Name. The name of the Conversion Profile as it will appear on the ribbon. 
  • What to convert. Defines the context in which the Conversion Profile will be shown on the ribbon. The available options include: 
    • Selected items: 
    • Current folder
    • Select other folder(s)
  • Destination PDF. Defines the preferred type of PDF output. The available options include: 
    • Single PDF document
    • PDF package document
    • PDF binder document
    • Separate PDF documents
  • PDF Settings. Defines the PDF settings that will be applied during PDF rendering. See this page for more information on how to create new or edit existing PDF settings. 
  • File name formula. Defines the naming rule that will be applied to created PDF files. See this page for more information on how to create or edit a file name formula. 
  • Attachment options. Defines the way in which the e-mail attachments will be processed. The available options include: 
    • Attach in native format
    • Convert attachment to PDF and append to resulting PDF
    • Convert attachment to PDF and attach converted file
    • Completely discard attachments
  • Export e-mail properties as metadata. If checked, the e-mail properties will be embedded in the PDF files as PDF metadata.
